The Toys for Tickets campaign in Orillia has raised over $5,000 in toys for local kids.
Parking tickets were turned into holiday cheer this morning as Mayor Steve Clarke presented the toys from the 2019 Toys for Tickets campaign to five local charities.
Mayor Steve Clarke said, “I’d like to thank everyone who took part in the 2019 Toys for Tickets program-our best year to date. By choosing to donate the amount owing on your parking fine to Toys for Tickets, you made a huge difference in the lives of so many local families this holiday season. Thank you.”
Toys for Tickets invited every person who received a parking ticket (with the exception of accessible parking violations) in the City of Orillia between Nov. 1 and Dec. 1, 2019, to pay the fine amount by donating a new children’s toy of equal or greater value.
The five local charities will use the donated funds and toys to provide Christmas presents to families in need within our community.
