A couple of local charities are struggling to reach their fundraising goals this holiday season.
Barrie and District Christmas Cheer hopes to help around 5,500 people needing assistance this year and depends heavily on the generosity of the community.
To date, Christmas Cheer fundraising efforts have raised $70,000 of the $250,000 goal, with only two weeks left in the campaign.
Meanwhile, the push is also on to help the Salvation Army's Christmas Kettle Campaign reach its goal of $575,000.
So far, they have only raised just over $183,000.
It is also pleading for more volunteers to help oversee the kettles in the community.
Roughly 70 per cent of the Barrie Bayside Mission Centre's funding comes from donations within the community.
