The Alliston Humane Society is appealing for help, after rescuing 57 animals from a hoarding situation.
The animals were discovered on Wednesday at a property in the north end of Tosorontio where the owner had died.
The OPP contacted the shelter to rescue 28 rabbits, 21 cats, five chickens, two guinea pigs and a dog.
The Humane Society says all of the animals are in poor physical condition and will require extensive medical care and attention, so it is appealing to the community for donations.
It says there is a dire need for several items including:
- Exercise pens (x-pens) 30” and 36” tall;
- Rectangular litter boxes about 10” x 14”;
- Timothy hay
- Oxbow Essentials adult rabbit pellets;
- Martin Original rabbit pellets;
- Cleaning vinegar 10%;
- Unscented softwood shavings (no cedar shavings, please) or paper-based bedding for small animals;
- Willow ball toys;
- Gift cards from Pet Valu, TSC, or Country Depot are always welcome.
