Stan Mathewson has been named Orillia's 2019 Citizen of the Year.
Mathewson has a passion for this planet and in fall of 2018, he initiated Sustainable Orillia to ensure people understood the seriousness of the climate crisis and how their actions can make a difference.
His goal is to encourage the community to take action and build healthy lives for the people of Orillia, our children and grandchildren.
The city says Mathewson received multiple nominations for the award, which he received at Monday night’s council meeting.
Mayor Steve Clarke said, “On behalf of Orillia City Council and the Citizen of the Year panel, I’d like congratulate Stan Mathewson and recognize his passion and dedication. Thanks to all of our wonderful nominees for their contributions and dedication to making our Sunshine City an even better community.”
