The Sharing Place Food Centre in Orillia is temporarily shutting down so it can be prepared to operate safely during the coronavirus outbreak.
The local food bank has posted a message on its website, saying it will temporarily terminate operations while it puts into place new procedures that will allow it to operate during this pandemic.
Chris Peacock, The Sharing Place Executive Director, says “We believe that our services are essential during this period and our contingency procedures will allow for a safe approach to providing access to food for those who are food insecure. As the situation develops, we will continue to ensure our procedures are appropriate.”
He says the food bank will re-open when new procedures are ready, which is expected to be within a few days.
