South Georgian Bay OPP have located the body of a man who went missing near Beckwith Island just after 12:30 this morning.
67-year-old Charles Dicaire left his 45-foot vessel moored on the west side of Beckwith Island and was not wearing a lifejacket the last time he was seen.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre of CFB Trenton had dispatched both a search and rescue helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft. They also had the assistance of the Indian Maiden ferry of the Beausoleil First Nation.
Investigators were able to visually locate the missing man shortly after 7 o’clock this morning, in the waters off Beckwith Island.
Police and the man’s family want to thank those involved in the search, despite its tragic end.
