It’s March Break for most students across the province.
While some people have decided to travel or take a vacation with the kids, many others are choosing to stay closer to home.
If you’re looking for some ideas for March Break activities, here are a few you can enjoy:

- You can make a Mini Gnome Home this March Break at the Orillia Public Library. All materials are supplied for this free drop-in program and no registration is necessary, but space is limited. It will run from 2-3:30p.m. Mon-Wed and from 5:30 til 7p.m. on Thursday.
- Family-Friendly Storytime is taking place at Orillia’s Victoria Park (75 Coldwater Road West) at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 18th
- The Centennial Centre in Gravenhurst is offering cool programs and activities for the whole family. They include: volleyball, ball hockey, pickleball, fitness classes, meditation and ballroom dancing.
- The Wasaga Beach Public Library is hosting a Virtual Tour of Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, along with Sticky Science, Zoo To You, Crafty Shenanigans, Family Virtual Reality and Introduction To Digital Cinema Film Production.
- The city of Orillia has a number of programs including drop-ins for activities such as Pickleball, Basketball, Swimming, Skating and more.
- March Break Escape at Friday Harbour in Innisfil for daily activities, live entertainment, roaming characters, and outdoor scavenger hunts.
- March Break at Park Place in Barrie is hosting activities including: live entertainment, learning about lacrosse, learning traditional ways maple syrup is harvested by The Barrie Native Friendship Centre, The Magical Duda and more.
- Harlem Globetrotters are at the Sadlon Centre on Tuesday, March 15th! Teamed up with award-winning experts from Broadway and renowned comedians to create an experience like no other. Top it off with the Globetrotters’ signature ankle breaking moves and rim-rattling dunks, and your family is sure to have an unforgettable night!
- The Cirque du Soleil Street Team will be at Horseshoe Resort from March 16-19th! Come visit its tent for free hot chocolate and participate in the scavenger hunt to win tickets to see KURIOS by Cirque du Soleil under the Big Top at Ontario Place!
- Georgian Mall in Barrie you can take the young ones to enjoy daily performances by Mabel Moon and TEAM T&J in the courtyard outside Shoppers Drug Mart from March 14-18.
- Simcoe County Museum is offering a March Break Day Camp. Each day will be a different theme from exploring how our senses understand the world around us to what it takes to be a great inventor. Campers will discover new ways to preserve our planet, search for leprechauns, learn all about the world at night and build their own amazing inventions! Participants must be between the ages of 6-12 to register.
- The museum also has a Kids Corner, with lots of fun at-home activities and colouring pages.
- The town of Huntsville has swimming and skating programs available, along with a March Break Camp and Drama Camp.
- Blue Mountain Resort kicks of March Break celebrations on Tuesday, March 15 with its first-ever Big Air Show, drumming circles in the Village plaza, and fireworks.
- Oro-Medonte is hosting FREE public skating with no pre-registration required.
