A new gardening program aims to provide 2,000 families with $50 gift certificates to purchase fruit, vegetable plants, and seeds from 19 garden centres across the province.
The Seedit program certificates can be redeemed locally at Orillia’s Home Building Supplies.
SEEDit is a Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group initiative to improve local food security by partnering with our brokers, local garden centres, food banks and everyone in the communities we serve (smaller places and wide open spaces throughout Ontario).
HOW IT WORKS
- REGISTER TODAY: select a local Garden Centre, and we’ll email a $50 SEEDit voucher to help with your project. Use it to buy edible plants, soil, fertilizer; all you need to begin.
- REDEEM YOUR VOUCHER at the garden centre you selected. Be sure to get your free SEEDit stickers at the centre so you can identify what you’re sharing with others.
- GET GROWING in your backyard or balcony. The more you plant, the more good you’ll do. Join the SEEDit Facebook Group to share your garden photos and get growing tips and advice while you’re there.
- As your garden starts producing, SHARE A PORTION OF WHAT YOU GROW with your local food bank, community group or neighbours. Pick it, put it in a bag, put a SEEDit sticker on the bag, drop it off and grow the smiles.
- SHARE YOUR PHOTOS and inspire your personal network. Join the SEEDit Community Facebook group. Get tips from local farmers, chefs and experts. Use the #CommonwellSEEDit hashtag in your posts.
