A tangled mess in the southbound lanes of Highway 400 at Duckworth Street in Barrie Thursday night, and based on the debris field, it could have been a lot worse.
OPP say the driver of a flatbed tow truck suffered a medical episode, and the passenger, in an attempt to steer the vehicle away from a ditch, collided with another flatbed, which collided with two other vehicles.
Three people were taken to hospital.
The southbound lanes were closed until about 1:30 early Friday morning.
