The Gravenhurst fire department has received $25,000 to be put towards the purchase and equipment costs of its newly ordered tanker truck.
The money comes from a grant program offered to rural communities by Farm Credit Canada.
Fire Chief Larry Brassard says the purchase of the $330,000 truck was approved by council in the spring as a replacement for a 20 year old vehicle that's currently in the fleet, but leaks so badly firefighters take up valuable time before it responds to fill up the water tank.
The new truck is expected to be delivered early in the new year.
