The Barrie Baycats scratch out a win to take the lead in the Intercounty Baseball League Finals.
A 2-out RBI single by Kyle DeGrace scoring Starlin Rodriguez broke a 2-2 tie in the 8th inning, he would come around to score on an RBI single by Tim Smith (2-for-4, R, RBI).
Both runs coming off Panthers reliever Matt Vickers (L, 1 2/3IP, 2R, 3H, 3K).
The Baycats would go on to beat Kitchener 4-2 in Game 3 of the IBL Finals Saturday night.
Kitchener would get on the board first on an RBI single by Mike Gordner (3-for-4, 2 RBIs) in the second inning for a 1-0 lead.
Barrie would answer in the 5th on a sacrifice fly by Glenn Jackson that drove in Smith then Ryan Spataro's bloop RBI single scoring Jeff Cowan gave the Baycats a 2-1 lead.
Santo Arias got the start in place of Emilis Guerrero and went 7 and a third giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, walking one, and striking out 6 in a no-decision.
At one point, Arias set down 14 of 15 Kitchener batters including 11 in a row.
Christian Hauck also got a no-decision for the Panthers giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, walking one and striking out 3 over 6 innings.
The Baycats have a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven.
Game 4 is Sunday night in Kitchener.
