Kudos to the citizens who were determined not to let a suspected drunk driver get away.
Barrie Police say a pickup truck pulled into a south end Tim Hortons (Quarry Ridge Road) early Friday evening and twice the driver attempted to reverse into a parking spot, only to strike a light post on the curb both times.
Witnesses told police the man stumbled into the store and exited a short time later with a drink in one hand and his keys in the other.
A male confronted the driver and demanded the keys.
When officers arrived, the motorist was sitting in the front seat of the vehicle minus his keys which the concerned citizen was in possession of.
Police say the driver, a 65 year old Shanty Bay man, was found to be more than double legal limit and was appropriately charged.
