A good start to the 2018-2019 Ontario Hockey League season for the Barrie Colts.
They opened with a 9-2 win over the visiting Owen Sound Attack on Thursday night.
Owen Sound's Daylon Groulx and Barrie's Metej Pekar (2 goals, 1 assist) exchanged first period goals.
Ben Hawerchuk (1 goal, 1 assist) opened the scoring in the second period, the first of five straight for the Colts (1-0-0-0), and built a 6-1 lead after two periods.
Markus Phillips got one back for the Attack (0-1-0-0) 61 seconds into the third period before Ryan Suzuki (1 goal, 2 assists) replied for the Colts at the 6:30 mark.
Pekar, Suzuki, and Tyler Tucker (1 goal, 2 assists) all finished with 3 points on the night.
15 of the 18 Colts skaters recorded at least a point in the game.
Maksim Zhukov made his debut in net for the Colts and made 35 saves, 18 of them coming in the final period.
Mack Guzda stopped 31 shots for the Attack.
Power plays saw Barrie go 2-for-5, Owen Sound were scoreless in 6 opportunities.
The next game for the Colts is this Saturday night when they host the reigning OHL champions the Hamilton Bulldogs at the Barrie Molson Centre.
The Attack return home to host the Sudbury Wolves on Saturday at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
