We could see the return of the Parking Advisory Committee.
The committee could be established for the new term of council.
Orillia Council Committee agreed to a recommendation made by the parking working group in their final report delivered at Monday night's meeting.
This version of the Parking Advisory Committee would consist of one member of Council, one member of the public at-large, and three members of the Business Improvement Area (BIA).
Mayor Steve Clarke says one of the reason's the committee was first dissolved was the belief that it wasn't properly represented.
He says they wanted to give a lot weight and input to the members of the BIA.
Clarke says if they want to be productive and come up with creative ways to improve parking, then there needs to be people who understand the benefits of being on a strong team.
He says one of the things the parking working group was able to accomplish is allowing customers to pay for on-street parking and parking in municipal lots through the use of a smartphone app.
The recommendation also includes the CAO designate a point of contact for the Downtown Orillia Management Board (DOMB).
Clarke says if you want to be more customer friendly then you have to practice what you preach.
He says having this point of contact to do deal with any parking issues will do just that.
