The City of Orillia has received over $103,000 ($103,850) in funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities for enviironmental work carried out at 70 Front Street North and the vacant waterfront lands.
The properties, including the Metro site, are former railway and industrial lands.
Investigative work revealed the environmental impacts present no risk to current site workers, users or the general public.
The city has ambitious plans for 70 Front Street, including pushing Coldwater Street through to the waterfront, and adding residential and commercial space at the Metro property and adjoining lands.
