Starting today (MON), Simcoe County has expanded what can be added to the green bin.
Pet waste, cat litter and animal bedding will now be accepted.
The County says pet waste makes up 15 per cent of the average household's garbage bag, and keeping it out of landfills will reduce production of methane and greenhouse gases.
This change does not apply to the cities of Orillia and Barrie.
