The Child Advocacy Centre of Simcoe/Muskoka is facing a funding crunch.
With offices in Orillia and Barrie, the centre receives federal funding from the Department of Justice which is set to run out by the end of the year.
The CAC provides a safe environment for child victims of sexual and physical abuse to help guide through the interview process police and investigators.
CAC Executive Director Tracey Carter says they have applied for provincial grants to help keep them afloat.
But she says they have not come though and are now appealing to the provincial government on providing some kind of base funding.
Carter says the centre sent briefing notes to all MPPs describing the funding model and the need.
She says they have also contacted Simcoe North MPP Jill Dunlop and Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte MPP Doug Downey but are waiting to hear more from them.
Carter says the centre needs to rest assure that the money is there to continue the work that they do.
She says they do not want to rely on grants and fundraising to keep the operation going.
Carter says people continue to come into the centre every day.
She says it will be difficult to continue operating if they don't get base funding.
