Johnson’s beach in Barrie is shutting down today until late November as the beach area undergoes modifications to regain some additional space for beach use.
The work includes removal of the existing rock swale, new swale, a new hand rail and restoring the beach area to sand. The design phase began in July 2019 with a topographical survey of the beach.
A Public Information Centre was held January 16, 2020 to provide further information to the public.
The beach will reopen in late November 2020.
Johnson St. and access to the Barrie Yacht Club will remain open during construction.
