An area senior is the latest victim of the so called grandparent scam.
Police in Barrie say that on Wednesday, October 17th a 96 year old woman got a call from someone saying that her grandson was involved in a crash out of province and he needed her to send money right away.
Investigators say that at one point, a second male was on the line claiming to be her grandson and begging for help, pleading with her not to tell any other family members.
The woman agreed to send 25 hundred dollars.
A delivery driver went to the woman's apartment complex on Collier Street that afternoon to collect the package containing the money. Officers say the woman was left feeling vulnerable, embarrassed and is out all that money.
Police remind you to take time to verify the story if you receive a call like this.
