It took another 24 hours for the unofficial elections results to come in.
Harry Hughes is back for another term as Mayor in Oro-Medonte.
The Township was one of 50 municipalities that experienced problems with online and telephone voting on Monday (22nd) and extended the voting period until 8 last night (TUE).
Hughes says when Council agreed to go with this method, experts said these kinds of things will happen.
He says he used the extra day to do get out the vote.
There were no such problems that evening as Hughes was re-elected as Mayor (3,011) for a fourth consecutive term defeating Councillor John Crawford (2,477) and Sandy Agnew (2,226).
Councillor Scott Jermey is the new Deputy Mayor defeating incumbent Ralph Hough.
The last two times Hughes ran for Mayor he ended up being acclaimed to the position.
Hughes says it was no fun watching the campaign from the sidelines.
He says he was able to meet residents and see different parts of the township.
Of the 5 Councillor positions, only Scott MacPherson (Ward 2) was re-elected.
Hughes says he had the opportunity to speak to everyone who was running for a Council seat.
He says while there is a learning curve, he believes there are really good people to replace those who are leaving.
