A Barrie man is $250,000 richer after winning an instant crossword lottery ticket recently.
‘Optometry’, ‘myriad’ and ‘operate’ were just some of the words that Remy Michel of Barrie revealed on his winning Instant Crossword Deluxe ticket.
The 27-year-old discovered his win while at home.
“I thought I had won $100, but I missed a couple of letters,” he says. “I scanned my ticket on the OLG Lottery App and saw that the prize amount was $250,000. I screamed for my mom – I couldn’t believe my eyes. She didn’t believe me until she saw the message on the app.”
Remy plans to take a trip all around the world and will start by travelling in Canada, continuing across the provinces, visiting friends.
“I get a rush and a thrill from winning – I was in a car accident when I was 18, and it changed my life,” he says. “I have overcome insurmountable odds, not just by winning the lottery, but to be sitting here today.”
The winning ticket was bought at the Circle K on Hurst Drive in Barrie.
