The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit says the province is seeing an increase in sexually transmitted infections among young people.
There's been a 25 per cent increase in gonorrhoea cases reported between January and September in both 2017 and 2018 in Ontario.
Health officials for Simcoe County say the majority of those affected are those people between the ages of 15-24.
They say it means there's a greater risk for people who are sexually active to get gonorrhoea and that they believe people aren't taking the proper precautions to protect themselves.
Gonorrhoea is getting harder to treat with antibiotics because of its resistance to it.
