More details are being released about the 18 victims of a mass shooting in Nova Scotia.
The shooter’s 12-hour rampage began Saturday night in the quaint coastal village of Portapique in Nova Scotia and stretched almost 60 miles away to the suburbs of Halifax, where he died after being apprehended by police.
The victims identified so far include:
- Aaron Tuck, Jolene Oliver and their 17 year old daughter Emily, who moved from Alberta to Nova Scotia two years ago.
- Sean McLeod and Alanna Jenkins, who were both Correctional Service Canada employees
- Greg and Jaimie Blair, who were gunned down in their home in Portapique, N.S.
- Long-time Durham residents Frank Gulenchyn and Dawn Madsen
- Tom Bagley, who was a neighbour and former airport firefighter passing by when he was shot and killed
- Lisa McCully, who was a teacher at Debert Elementary School and a mother of two
- Corrie Ellison, who lived in Truro, N.S., but was visiting his father in Portapique when he was killed.
- Gina Goulet, a resident of Shubenacadie, N.S., was a two-time cancer survivor and an avid recreational fisher.
- Heather O’Brien, who was a licensed practical nurse, a wife, mother and grandmother.
- Kristen Beaton, who was a continuing care assistant and a young wife and mother.
- Lillian Hyslop, who was killed while out for a walk in the Wentworth Valley
- Joey Webber, a father to two girls, who was running an errand
- Const. Heidi Stevenson,who was identified Sunday by the RCMP as the officer killed. She was a 23-year member of the force and a mother of two children.
There are still people in the area unaccounted for and police have said they expect the death toll could rise.
