Ron Taverner will not be sworn in Monday as OPP commissioner. He's asked for a delay — to allow the province's integrity commissioner time to review his appointment.
Taverner is a close friend of premier Doug Ford, and there are allegations that there was political interference in the hiring process.
Community Safety Minister Sylvia Jones says the government will respect Taverner’s request for the delay.
But there will be a change of bosses at OPP headquarters.
Acting commissioner Brad Blair, who's spoken out against Taverner's appointment, will be replaced by Deputy Commissioner Gary Couture.
