More opposition to Provincial Governments amended Simcoe County Growth Plan.
This time its coming from Simcoe North Conservative MPP Garfield Dunlop who calls the new plan nothing more than a disaster and all municipal politicians in the County should be up in arms over what the Liberal Government is trying to do.
Dunlop says the Simcoe Growth Plan is terribly flawed and is of no benefit to the citizens of Simcoe County.
Dunlop has been advocating for a six month extension to the comment period on the amendments for the plan from January 31 to July 31, to properly allow the 70 new council members in Simcoe municipalities time to be educated on the true impact of the plan.
The Minister of Infrastructure has rejected the extension period and refuses to appear before Simcoe County Council to discuss the plan.
Dunlop says one of his major concerns is the lack of economic analysis in the plan and the implications that that has for future planning by all municipalities in the County.
He also says jobs in the development and construction industry will be negatively impacted because the plan caps and delays existing draft plan approved projects and it will pit community versus community for a share of limited building permits within the same municipality.
Dunlop says he fully expects this controversial plan will emerge as a hot button election issue in Simcoe county this fall.
