A much anticipated local festival is edging ever closer — The Mariposa Folk Festival is already busy getting ready for the July events.
With new acts being added often these days it’s time for the festival to start recruiting for volunteers.
Chris Lusty, President of the Mariposa Folk Foundation says they need about 600 volunteers each year to help make the event a success.
If you’re interested in getting involved it’s easy to apply, Lusty says you just go online to mariposafolk.com, click the volunteer tab, select how you would like to help and send in your application.
Lusty warns that positions fill up quickly , usually by March or April.
Lusty, who himself is a volunteer, says you can’t run a music festival with 1000’s of people in attendance without help, in fact the committee only pays for the sound system and toilets, and relies on sponsorships for other big items.
New acts have already been announced, including Lunch at Allen’s and many others, some new young bands along with some well known names, Lusty shares that the headliners will be announced closer to the festival.
If you want to see the shows without the work tickets are just $85 plus tax until March 1.
