Lots of people will be slipping and sliding at the Couchiching Golf and Country Club this afternoon as the third annual cardboard box toboggan races get under way.
Roz Llewellyn, Orillia recreation program supervisor says registeration begins at 1 pm Sunday and the races get underway around 1.30.
Participants must sign a waiver upon registration and bring their own protective head gear, such as a hockey or bike helmet.
The main criteria to participate is that the sled must be made primarily of cardboard.
Llewellyn says people have gotten very creative in the past, using one or more boxes to create sleds that look like trains and boats.
She says the event has become more popular every year with abouty 30 to 40 people taking part last year.
Judging categories include furthest distance, most creative design, largest toboggan, best overall design, best wipeout and the fastest speed.
