Orillia City Council will try to get a better grip on rising costs associated with the Library/Market Square Project.
A motion was passed that was put forward by Councillor Andrew Hill that requests a report from the treasurer regarding the operational costs associated with the project.
That report is to include total expenditures to date, including onsite cost, relocation and temporary accomodation costs.
The Library Project Team will have to provide an explanation in regards to change order approvals.
Councillor Hill says its important that the city not write blank cheques for projects such as these.
He says the city owes it to taxpayers to keep tabs on how their money is being spent.
Council also wants to know if a 500-thousand dollar contigency fund, set aside for the project, will cover costs associated with its completion.
