Two days of pre budget hearings by Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop are being described as a big success.
He held one meeting Wednesday in Midland and another on Thursday in Orillia.
Dunlop says a total of 33 groups and individuals made a presentation on what they would like to see Finance Minister Dwight Duncan put in his upcoming Provincial Budget.
He says there were deputations from the School Boards, the small rural schools that dont want closure, the solar power opponents along with representatives from Orillia’s Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Midland’s Hospital.
Dunlop says some of the Municipalities also appeared to outline some of their concerns.
Overall he says this was a real success with everyone giving him a written submission which can be passed on directly to the Ministry of Finance.
Dunlop says this is the 8th year he has held these pre budget meetings and says its an excellent way to connect with his constituants and really listen to what their concerns are and what issues they are facing.
As to whether the Finance Minister will take some of these suggestions and include them in his next budget, Dunlop says he would be disappointed if he did not take into account the suggestions from the taxpayers.
