A petititon by downtown Orillia business people to haveĀ city buses to once again stationed at Mississaga and Peter streets is not falling on deaf ears.
Orillia Councillor and Transit committee member Don Jenkins says they are paying attention to the concerns of the business people and in fact want as much public participation as possible on this issue.
The business people say congestion, safety and an impact on business are the main reasons they want changes made to where the bus terminial is located.
The current location at Mississaga and West Street just does not work say the merchants.
Councillor Jenkins says when Council does make a decision it wont be etched in stone, but will be subject to revision if the needs change.
He says the construction of the Library building also will change the whole dynamics of the situation and that is something council will have to consider before making any decision about relocating the transit terminal.
Jenkins also says the transit system needs an overall review that would include a focus on individual stops and a terminal.
Council has yet to make any decision on where the bus terminal should be located or when a study of the transit system should be undertaken.
