Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop hoping the government will act on his private members bill to amend the highway traffic safety act to protect tow truck drivers and other who offer road side assistance.
Currently the legisation only covers police officers and other emergency personel.
Dunlop says its time to include tow truck operators as well as other people who provide road side assistance, like CAA workers.
The amendment would see drivers fined if they dont slow down and move away from anyone offering help by the side of the road.
Currently a person can be fined if they dont move for an emergency worker or police officer.
However dunlop admits with this being an election year, his bill may not get passed.
He says if the bill does not make it through the legislature this time around, he will be re-introducing it again after the fall election.
