A proposal from Natural Resources Minister Linda Jeffery to hold a contest to control the ever growing coyote population is getting a positive reception from Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop.
He says coyotes are a serious problem in this region with many farmers experiencing increasing loses of animals to coyotes.
Dunlop says farmers have been telling him the problem is getting worse and s he welcomes any action that will help control the exploding coyote population in Simcoe County and elsewhere in the province.
He says the MNR has to start paying more attention to this problem to try and reduce the coyote population to help protect area farmers from even more losses of their livestock.
Dunlop says that whats frustrating for the farmers experiencing these loses is the amount of compensation they receive from the Government for lost livestock is minimal at best.
