Two new programs have been unveiled by the North Simcoe victims Crisis Services.
Executive Director Pat Hehn says both are designed to offer victims quick and immediate access to help during a crisis.
She says the first is called Support Link and provides cell phones to persons at risk of violence, harrassment, or stalking.
Hehn says the phones are programmed to call only 911 and can be activated with the push of one button.
The second program is called the Victim Quick response Program and is designed to assist victims of more serious crimes like homicide, attempted homicide, sexual or physical assault or hate crimes.
Hehn says the program is on a one year trial period and also provides for emergency home security expenses and emergency transportation costs.
She says volunteers received up to 60 hours of training so they are available 24/7 to help victims of crime or tragic circumstance.
