A big boost for four local not for profit groups in Orillia from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
A total of 420 thousand 700 dollars in grants handed out to them.
The Couchiching Conservancy has received a three-year $125,500 grant; Habitat for Humanity Orillia/Lake Country Inc, has received a three-year $225,000 grant; the Lagoon City Yacht Club has received a one-year $35,200 and a one-year, $35,000 grant for the Mariposa Wrestling Club.
The Conservancy will be using its multi-year funding to promote a stewardship model for the management of Copeland Forest and to initiate a four-year biological survey of the property, in addition to continuing to build on community outreach and creating an advisory board in Midhurst.
Habitat for Humanity Orillia/Lake Country Inc will use its grant money to hire a full-time Manager to oversee the opening and operation of a community ReStore.
The Lagoon City Yacht Club is using their funding to buy a new safety boat so that young people participating in the Able Sail program
The Mariposa Wrestling Club has wrestled a one year grant from the Foundation to buy new safety mats for its members.
Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop says this region has done with this round of grants which will have four very deserving volunteer organizations.
