A Provincial Facilitator is going to get involved in negotiations over the controversial Simcoe County Growth Plan.
Simcoe County Warden Cal Patterson says they were told Friday that the facilitator will work with provincial ministries, the County of Simcoe and area municipalities on matters relating to Proposed Amendment 1 to the Growth Plan and the outstanding approval of the Countys Official Plan.
Patterson says the County feels that this is a positive step forward for our region.
The County had first requested utilization of the facilitator back in November 2009 as part of a Council Resolution to appeal the lack of decision of the adopted County Official Plan.
Patterson says past indecision has had the effect of stalling significant opportunity.
the Facilitator will focus on reviewing the allocation of the population and employment forecasts for the lower-tier municipalities in the County ,identifying how to manage the oversupply of land and implement the policies of the proposed Amendment and develop alternative density targets for the designated Greenfield areas in Simcoe County to ensure the creation of more compact, mixed-use communities
Its expected the facilitator is to report back to the Government by November of this year.
