Orillia is one step closer to getting its very own Habitat for Humanity Re-Store.
A Trillium grant of 225 thousand dollars means the group can hire a full-time Manager to oversee the opening and operation of a community Re-Store.
Habitat President Carol Sharpe says they are hoping to have the doors of the store open by July 1st.
She says the Re-Store is a Home Improvement Centre that accepts and resells quality new, used, and surplus building materials.
The ReStore supports reuse and recycling, and the funds generated support Habitat for Humanity building projects.
Sharpe says what you will find in the Re-Store are things like: windows, doors, hardware, tools, lighting fixtures, plumbing parts, bathroom fixtures and even cabinetry.
She says Retailers and manufacturers can donate end-of-line, scratch-and-dent, discontinued inventory, paint mis-tint and customer returns to their closest ReStore and avoid the cost of returning them to the manufacturer.
Sharpe says they are still working on obtaining a proper building or the Re-Store, and an announcement on its location should be coming very soon.
