Orillia Mayor Angelo Orsi wants to have a discussion with the Ontario Reality Corporation about just can be publicly discussed surrounding the Huronia Regional Centre lands.
He says the leaking of a confidential Council document dealing with the talks resulted in this move where the City Manager will contact the ORC to determine what can be talked about publicly and what must be kept confidential.
Mayor Orsi says Council need to move ahead, and at least establish talking terms with the public and City Manager John Craig’s discussions with the ORC could determine what is confidential and what is not.
As for the investigation into the release of those confidential documents to the local newspaper, Mayor Orsi says that is something they wont find a quick fix for.
He says the big issue as far as he is concerned is to take a look within the city corporation to find ways to improve records security and then move forward.
Mayor Orsi says its a little embarrassing that this information is out in the public without the knowledge of ORC and City Council.
