The Candidate for the Green Party is off and running for the May 2nd Election.
Valerie Powell has officially opened her campaign office in Downtown Orillia and says that the environment is one of the main issues she wants to talk about during the campaign.
She says there has to be more development of green energy sources to help reduce our dependance on Nuclear energy.
Powell says developing a smart economy is one way to create more jobs in Simcoe North and develop more manufacturing jobs by creating more renewable energy projects.
She also says she wants seniors in this riding to get a better break from Government and the Green Party is advocating what they call a guaranteed livable income, where seniors dont have to fear living in poverty.
Powell says she is shocked that Green Party Leader Elizabeth May is being kept out of the leaders debates.
She says since the Green Party had more than one million people vote for it right across the country, there is no reason at all to exclude May from this event.
