A local Orillia business has managed to win a prestigious national award for business excellence.
The Orillia Home Hardware Building Centre has been named Canada’s best Home Hardware Store.
The store was selected from 1080 locations from coast to coast for achieving the highest standards in retailing, merchandise presentation staff performance and overall quality of the store.
This past weekend, Owner John Locke was presented with the Walter J Hachborn Award for Retailing Excellence.
John Locke says this honour is being shared by the whole staff, who have worked hard to make this the best Home Hardware store in Canada.
He says there are numerous criteria the store must meet to even make to the finals of the competition.
Locke says ever since they first opened they have set standards that all of the staff have bought into and that is the reason for their success.
He says another reason is the relationship they have with the community.
Locke says they listened to what people in Orillia wanted, then went about creating a store that fit the needs of the customers.
