There is a new top cop heading up the Central Region of the OPP, which includes Orillia and area.
OPP Commissioner Chris Lewis announced that effective Monday ,Superintendent B.W. (Brad) Blair, Commander of the Aboriginal Policing Bureau has been appointed as the new Regional Commander for Central Region.
Superintendent Blair has also received a promotion to the rank of Chief Superintendent.
Chief Superintendent Blair has been a member of the OPP for 25 years and is originally from the Town of Essex.
During his career, he has also worked in the Anti Rackets Branch, has served as an Executive Officer in the Office of the Commissioner and to the Deputy Commissioner of the then Strategic Services, worked on assignment with the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Investigative Services as the Provincial Negotiator First Nations Policing and OPP Liaison.
Chief Superintendent Blair replaces Chief Superintendent Mike Armstrong who moves on to becoming the Bureau Commander of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau .
