Information Orillia and some 25 community groups from our area were scouting some new blood recently at a Volunteer Fair.
Interim Executive Director at Information Orillia, Leah Wuttke, says overall, the event was a huge success.
Casino Rama hosted the event on behalf of Information Orillia this past Monday.
Wuttke says she was pleased with the amount of people who came out to support the event, and sign up for some of the volunteer opportunities that we have available within the community.
Wuttke admits that it’s often times the same people who are getting involved in a lot of the community groups, so it’s important to keep refueling and generating new blood to the various groups.
Looking at volunteering as more then a way to give back to the community, Wuttke says you can also use the opportunity to try out something new, like fundraising or working with children or even animals.
Huronia Ride for Dad did quite well, with many people signing up to help out with the event.
Information Orillia has a full listing of groups looking for volunteers in the community, or you can call for more information on how to get involved.
The evening was capped off my an inspiring talk from CFL great Michael “Pinball” Clemens, who encouraged the packed house to find their ‘sweet spot’ while highlighting how rewarding giving back really is.
