Eight Simcoe County District School Board schools have been recognized with top awards for their environmental initiatives by the Ontario EcoSchool program.
Ontario EcoSchools is an environmental education program for Grades 1 to 12 that helps students develop ecological literacy while engaged in practices to become environmentally responsible citizens.
Certification recognizes a school for its annual achievement in four key areas: energy conservation, waste minimization, ecological literacy and school ground greening. Rama Central PS is the only school in the Orillia area to win a medal. It picked up a Silver medal.
