A change at the top for the Orillia Tundra hockey team.
Tom Ruff has announced that he is will be relinquishing the Chairman of the Board position as well as Bench Coach duties.
Ruff said although appreciative of the accolades associated with the turnaround season, he was disappointed in the ultimate results, a 5th place finish with a 9-15 record.
He however acknowledged that he was behind the bench as Head Coach for 7 of the 9 games won in 14 appearances.
Ruff stated that he has not officially resigned as GM and plan on being involved in the search for a new bench coach.
He also says this team needs new blood and more energy to take it to the next level.
Ruff felt that the next goal should be restructuring that will allow the hockey club to do 50/50 raffles as well as run a booster club, things that were difficult or impossible to do in the Tundra’s current structure. He also says The team needs to find people who want to be part of Senior Hockey in Orillia not just fans and he is looking for more community involvement in the operation of the team.
