Orillia’s Mayor has requested a report on the new library currently being built.
Angelo Orsi wants to know if the new library currently being constructed behind the Opera House – needs to be so big.
During Monday’s council meeting Orsi requested that Administration prepare a report on whether the library requires that much space – and if it doesn’t, what else can be put in there.
Orsi suggests that perhaps the library can take up a single section of the building, with City Hall moving into the second or third floors of the structure and maybe even some residential space.
Orsi says with all the information technology around today, he’s a little sceptical that a library really needs to be that large.
The report from Administration will come down on June 20.
