A picture of your “piece of heaven” could provide you with the tools needed for peace of mind.
Today, the first 50 people who bring a picture of their cottage or summer escape to the Orillia Fire Department’s display booth at the Spring Boat, Cottage and Outdoor Show will receive a free sparky Night-Time Glow smoke alarm, or a carbon monoxide alarm.
Fire Prevention officers will be on hand at the Port of Orillia to answer any questions and to help you ensure your family is protected at home and on vacation.
Orillia Fire Chief Ralph Dominelli says fire alarms are just as important at the cottage as they are at our homes.
Chief Dominelli recommends that you install an alarm outside each of your sleeping rooms at both your home and cottage.
You might as well get your alarm now, because throughout the summer crews will be visiting homes in the community as part of their “Alarmed for Life” campaign.
