Various physicians will be honored in Orillia today for their long standing work and commitment to our community.
The Orillia & Area Physician Recruitment & Retention Committee and Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital will be hosting the Physician Long Service Awards tonight at Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club.
Receiving distinguished awards at tonight’s ceremonies will be: Dr. Mark Rodway-Norman, Dr. DArcy Little, Dr. John Mueller, and David Freeman.
Several doctors will also be recognized for their length of service to the hospital and community including Dr. William Zufelt who will receive a 50 year award.
Chair of the Orillia and Area Physician Retention Committee Tony Katarynych says they’re pleased to have recruited 7 family physicians this year, with a couple more in the works, on top of specialists that have been recruited to our area.
Katarynych says they haven’t been able to compare numbers with some of the surrounding communities, but says he has heard through the grapevine that Orillia has been much more successful in recruiting family doctors then others have been.
