80% of grade 10 students within the Simcoe County School Board have been successful on this years provincial literacy tests.
This years success rate is consistent with achievement levels in 2007, 2008 and 2009, but, like the rest of the province, it is slightly lower than the success rate in 2010.
The test was written back in March by nearly 4000 Grade 10 students in the SCDSB.
Director of Education Kathi Wallace is quoted as saying that …in looking at our five-year trend, we are encouraged to see so many of our students successfully demonstrating their literacy skills and fulfilling a graduation requirement,”
Wallace also says that going forward the board and individual schools will be analyzing the recently-released data to put into place further strategies to help students to succeed on this annual literacy test.
