A scary night for a group of people from Eight mile point just south of Orillia.
Eight people were rescued after drifting in their boat for part of the night on Lake Simcoe after the boat ran out gas.
Three adults and five children left their cabinfor a short boat ride around 7 p.m. Sunday.
Provincial police contacted the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre at CFB Trenton three hours later after the group didn’t return.
A Griffon helicopter from Trenton’s spotted the group about 20 kilometres from the point at 4 a.m. today.
Their five-metre boat, which had broken down, was towed back by a police vessel
