Orillia OPP were quick on their feet this morning…snagging a boat thief.
They responded to a call from the owner of a marina in Cumberland Beach in Severn Township at 4:15 this morning. A boat and trailer had just been stolen from his business.
Police spotted the boat and trailer travelling southbound on Highway 11, just north of Orillia and attempted to stop the truck. But the driver did not stop. He finally pulled over when other police units got involved. The driver of the truck was the lone occupant of the vehicle and he was arrested without incident.
As it turns out the truck and the license plates were also stolen. The 28-year old man from London Ontario is being held for a bail hearing and faces numerous charges, including breach of probation, flight from police, break and enter with intent, as well as 3 counts of theft over $5000.
