Its a union made in literary heaven.
The Canadian Authors Association is holding its annual awards dinner and readings here in Orillia in conjunction with the Leacock summer Festival.
Association President Mathew Bin says this is a perfect relationship for both organizations as Stephen Leacock was one of the founders of the Association back in 1921.
He says they split from the Governors General Literary awards and formed their own group to recognize and honour more popular writing in Canada.
Bin says they want to honour authors that the majority of the population are reading.
The readings by some of the short listed authors begin this afternoon at 1 and the dinner features an address by renounced Canadian author Thompson Highway, with the 2011 literary awards being announced after that.
All events will be held at the Leacock museum.
